Spring is only a few weeks away with warmer weather Bluegill fishing is coming up fast. Now is when the
bluegill fisherman really gets into the spring of things (PUN) and starts working on his Bluegill Fishing equipment.

This pre-season maintenance on equipment greatly increases a fisherman's chances
for catching some of those big bluegills that work the shallows prior to spawning. As far as I am
concerned nite crawlers are the best Bluegill bait for catching Big Bluegills if presented properly and
fished in the right conditions for the weather.

Here in the Upper peninsula I have found that working artificial shallow running crank baits
can also be very productive for large pre-spawn bluegills, just find some fallen timber and
work around the edges of the brush. Please release the large males as they are the ones that
are the key to really big bluegills.
