I
don't know how many of you have had the opportunity to use one of the available
underwater
video
cameras yet...........I would suggest you get one. They are a fishermens
vitual toy and you
can
spend most of your trip just watching the the screen and the fishing becomes
secondary.
Myself
I take a lot of photos with my Canon Rebel XTi and and this becomes a real
challenge
to get good pictures of how Bluegills really bite and survive in this underwater
world.
I
previously had another make camera of which you have seen a lot pictures
of gills in action
on
this site when I get out ice fishing. The only problem with that TV camera
was it did not
have
an on/off switch for the lights and also didn't have a dimmer control.
This creates a
problem
when all of bio life down there lights up like little neon signs and tends
to obliderate
most
of the detail.
Last
year I decided to upgrade to an Aqua-Vu Sport which is an underwater camera
with some
light
controls on it. I didn't get out too much last year and the few times I
did get out
the
fish were a little scarce in the camera so I didn't catch many of them
in action.
The
TV camera worked great with a great picture. Well a couple of weeks ago
I decided to take it
with
me to do some deep water fishing for gills. It worked great in 35 ft of
water and the
lake
I was fishing had great clarity and you could see in good detail all of
the weeds and
rocks
on the bottom. You did have to keep the screen side curtains up and away
from the sunlight
and
bend down a littleto get closer to the screen in order to see a decent
picture.
I didn't get any pics that day with the camera because of these conditions.
The
following day I and the wife deciced to go fishing and it was very dark
and cloudy out
and
I thought today's the day to get some good pictures with the camera. Well
I put the
camera
down right where we had a good school of gills laying in 32 ft. of water
suspended
from 20-30 ft down. The pictures were great and just as I was setting up
the
camera
for pictures the screen started to roll all over the place. I couldn't
get
it to stop rolling and thought maybe it was the battery and shut it off.
I
charged the battery and the vertical roll was still there. I contacted
Nature
Vision by Email and they responded the same day. After a few Emails back
and forth I
found
out that they didn't have any record of my purchase in their files. I can't
remember if
I
sent it in or not... All I know is there is not a warranty card in the
box of which I still have.
It
looks like I will have to pay the shipping and repair charges if I want
it fixed.
LATEST
UPDATE
