BLUEGILL FACTS
PLEASE RELEASE MOST OF THE LARGE BLUEGILLS THAT YOU CATCH.
RESEARCH HAS FOUND THAT THESE BLUEGILLS ARE ACTUALLY A LARGER STRAIN OF BLUEGILLS THAT HAS DEVELOPED OVER
MANY YEARS DUE TO THE BREEDING HABITS OF BLUEGILLS. iF YOU REMOVE TOO MANY OF THE BIG BLUEGILLS, THE SMALLER
STRAIN MALES WILL DOMINATE AND SPAWN A SMALLER SPECIES AND YOU WILL ONLY HAVE SMALL GILLS  LEFT TO CATCH.
THE LARGE BLUEGILLS WILL BE GONE FOR MANY MANY YEARS UNTIL THE NEXT LARGE STRAIN EVOLVES.
iT HAS BEEN SAID THAT YOU CAN'T OVER FISH A LAKE OF BLUEGILLS......WRONG THE FACTS SHOW OTHERWISE.

Ice fishing is pretty slow this year. Apparently too many fish were taken out
of the lake last summer from fishermen whom found a way in. A lake this size of
56 acres, it doesn't take too much to overfish it.

A nice female "Spawner" Sunny that went back to get caught another day.
We were fishing a private Lake which is exceptionally clear and is full of
nice Bluegills and Sunnys. It has no Public Access but we are fortunate and
have our 12 ft. Jon Boat at a friends house on the lake.
A Bluegill in her spawning colors, they have a pink cast to them in this lake.
The water here is about 10 ft. deep and you can see all of the bass
next to the boat. It was very windy this day and a lot of tree polin
is in the water.
A fat 9" Bluegill/Sunfish cross caught on this day. It is a female
